No time to waste
1101 [eleven-o-one] – the first minute of the eleventh hour. A time to change in how we manufacture, use raw materials, and recycle.
1101 represents the necessity for us to plan for the future, through mindful design and sustainable production.
We feel the urgency behind our mission. Every minute at 1101, we want to purposefully design and create in a way that’s kind to the earth. And it’s with this philosophy that we engage with every business decision we make. If it doesn’t fit within our ethos, we won’t do it, it’s that simple.
Re-using & Recycling
Closing the loop
We aim to create products in a closed-loop system. This means using recycled materials as the raw ingredient, that can then be recycled. It means that our products can have many lives and purposes, and the cyclical journey can begin.
When a product has served its original purpose, it can restart again at collection. By cutting it down into scraps it can then provide “new” raw materials. Once again entering into manufacturing and becoming another purchasable product. And so the cycle continues.
Creating long-lasting, well-designed products that can be recycled at the end of their lives, and closing the loop on manufacturing is a way to conserve natural resources, divert waste from landfills, reduce toxins going into the earth, and save energy.
This is just the starting point. Technology in this area is advancing quickly and we want to help make sure that manufacturers are keeping abreast of all these.
Working with like-minded companies
Manufacturing partners
We want to work with manufacturers who share our ethos and want to do their bit towards thinking about the future of the planet.
Whether that’s through reducing energy and water consumption or minimising toxins created through production, material wastage or using renewable energy where possible. Each action has an important part to play when planning for the future of production.
Developing sustainable manufacturing solutions begins with working in a trusted allyship who has a tried and tested sustainability framework.
We’re looking to partner with manufacturers interested in production innovation that respects the earth.
How we can re-use waste
We partner with suppliers who run ocean clean-up projects
Plastic accumulating in our oceans and on our beaches has become a global crisis. Billions of pounds of plastic can be found in swirling convergences that make up about 40 percent of the world’s ocean surfaces. At current rates plastic is expected to outweigh all the fish in the sea by 2050.
Materials such as harvested ocean plastics or recycled textiles can become our raw ingredients whilst we support ocean clean-up projects, communities, and new material innovations helping to repair our oceans, preserving sea life and contributing to cleaning up our oceans for the next generations to enjoy.
